Media Player Classic is an excellent FREE audio and video player for Microsoft Windows. It has a built in DVD player with real-time zoom, support for AVI subtitles, QuickTime and RealVideo support (requires QuickTime and/or Real Player); built-in MPEG2/SVCD/DVD codec. SVCD/CVD switchable subtitle support. The new Media Player Classic Home Cinema has Anti tearing option, Subtitle synchronisation, Support Vista 64bits and more.

It plays: ASF, AVI, VCD, SVCD, DVD, MPG, MPEG 2, MPEG 4, RM/RMVB, VOB, WMV, WMA, FLV, LPCM, MP2, AC3, SWF and many other video and audio file formats.

With Media Player Classic you can play most available audio/video files.

Downloading / Installing

Before using Media Player Classic 6.4.9 you need to download the application and install it on your computer. Below are the necessary steps for that:

  1. Click here to download Media Player Classic and choose:
    Download Media Player Classic 6.4.9.1 for Win2000/NT/XP/Vista

  2. A small window will open and you will be prompted to open or save, click save

  3. Choose where you want to save the file

  4. The file "mplayerc_20080414.zip" will be saved on your computer

  5. Unzip the content of the file by right-clicking on it and choose "Extract All"

  6. Extract the zipped file to your Desktop

  7. The player icon- mplayerc.exe- will show on your desktop


Configuration


Double Click on mplayerc.exe to open it.
To configure the type of file you would like Media Player Classic to play:

  1. Go to View > Options

  2. Under Player select Formats, choose the file formats that you would like Media Player Classic to play
    i.e.: I
    f you check the box next to Windows Media File, wmv, wmp, wm, asf file formats will be played through Media Player Classic

  3. Click on Apply > OK
